The Yorkshire being a very proud little dog, his coat must be the subject of our greatest care.
Certainly it is possible to opt for a short haircut that will require less maintenance, but I would admit to prefer to see
my Yorks evolve with a beautiful and long dress, which gives more elegance and fluidity to their movements.
Caring for this dress will take a bit of effort, but what a joy to see them so beautiful !

And after all, we're not talking about long hours of work :
>>> one shower per week to get rid of dust accumulated during walks,
>>> a visit every 6 weeks or so to the groomer to adjust the cut, especially around the eyes, ears and their little nose.
Unless you try it by yourself : take a look at my material, accumulated over time, just like my self-assurance which grew.
My Yorks are thus 100 % home groomed today, for their greatest happiness and mine !...
To hear some professionals, a weekly shower would be too much.
If like me you have Yorkies with a long coat, you know that this shower is essential, especially if your little treasures have access to all the rooms of your home !.
The Yorkshire indeed gets much more dirty than the average of other breeds during walks, due to its proximity with the ground.

The coat of Yorkshires is not one : it is hair, similar to ours and their "coat" thus grows by about 1 cm per month...
And just like us, their contact is much more pleasant when they smell good and fresh, after a shower !.
The most important point is therefore not the frequency of baths, but the quality of the products used.
This is why you should not hesitate to choose the ranges used by professionals for exhibitions for example.
The sums invested in these products will be largely compensated by the savings made on avoided visits to the veterinarian (for skin problems of all kinds).
Fripouille, Coquine and I opted for the high quality brand : Ladybel.
You can have a look to the website of this French brand which has proven itself, offers serious products including a range particularly suited to our Yorks :
the mink oil range.
Moreover, beyond care, nothing prevents you from having fun with a touch of perfume : some ladybel perfumes come from Grasse (the capital of perfume…).
